Bought this as a Christmas gift for my mom. She's a nurse and she really loved it. She's even being taking it to work for the nurses she work with to see. It is a great book for any nurse, it's only 10 and i think it was my moms favorite thing i gave her. The only complaint i have is i just assumed there'd be more pages or it'd be shaped different. I didnt look at how many pages there was prior to buying, and it wasnt that big of a deal, there's still plenty to get a kick from. The book itself is shaped like a coloring book opposed to a more compact one, which was something i was a little dispointed with. Overall though, if you know a nurse I highly recommend it

Nurses only...

I don't think you have to be nurse to enjoy reading this, but if you are it is great! If nothing else it gives you a chance to laugh at some of the situations a nurse will at one point or another be forced to face. My only wish was that there were more pages...maybe a second edition?

Great Book About Unplugging From The Collective Consciousness Of Fear, Lack, And Suffering

This book is an easy and interesting read, and I would definitely recommend it for anyone who is doing the activations, or who is considering doing them and would like to learn more about this amazing modality and about the collective consciousness.

The first part of the book is about some of Tamra's life experiences and how she came to receive the activations. The second part consists of transcribed conversations between her and a friend. They discuss various life issues, spiritual topics, and Tamra gives examples of how the activations have transformed people she knows. The third part is a transcript of the practitioner training, through which you learn about the foundational activations. Also included is a link to a video, which allows you to receive the golden seals to give yourself the foundational activations.

One thing I really liked about this book is that there is a lot of wisdom and information--and it's relatable to real life experiences. You learn how to unplug from the collective consciousness of pain, fear, suffering, etc., and connect to the consciousness of unconditional love and abundance.

A side note: I met Tamra earlier this year while on a tour of Egypt. I had never heard of her or her modality before. I ended up sitting next to her on a domestic flight and began to feel this incredibly strong energy. My entire body vibrated, pulsed, and tingled, and within a few minutes I experienced the most wonderful feeling of relaxation and peace. Initially, I was bewildered about the source of this energy, but knew it had to be coming through someone on the plane. When I discovered it was coming from Tamra, I was intrigued and got to know her during the rest of the tour. She is truly a lovely person--compassionate, generous, kind, and has a great sense of humor and wit.

Upon returning home, I began doing the activations, and they are absolutely extraordinary! At this point, I've done the foundational ones and a few others (so have a long ways to go before I've completed them all), and I'm AMAZED at how powerful they are and how quickly they are shifting me. Already, I feel more compassionate and less judgmental of other people. The volume on my fears and negative emotions has been turned down, and the happiness and optimism has been turned up. I'm super excited about continuing with the activations and experiencing transformation. If I could go back in time and give my younger self one thing, it would be these activations. They are a huge blessing.

An inspirational book

Firstly, the concept of Sacred Activations itself is a great. One gets the activations just by listening to Tamra that too just in 4-5 minutes. I have experienced these activations through recordings and they are really great..
In the book, Tamra has given the background details and circumstances as to how the activations occurred. She tells her personal story too which itself is inspiring. The unusual format of the book (in the form of interview) also make it very simple and to the point.

This book is written in a very relaxed, interview type style that is SO Tamra! LOL thats why I Love her and her Activations. No fluff just plenty of Amazing stuff! Considering each activation runs about $35. this is a Fantastic value since it lets you do the first 26 Activations on yourself! Jenny Hayut lives in Virginia with her husband and two children, along with their shelter rescue, Georgia, an extremely spoiled beagle mix. Her love of writing began in elementary school and continued through high school, where she enjoyed writing quirky articles for the school newspaper and poetry for the literary magazine. In her free time while she’s not people watching and plotting to kill a character off, she’s outdoors. Tattooed alpha male bounty hunters, fast classic cars, and finding love

Gaining Ground picks up right where Shifting Gears left off so you MUST read book 1 first. This is a story filled with bounty hunters, alpha males with tattoos, and fast classic cars... *sigh* What's not to love about that, right? But is also a story about finding love, looking past first impressions and jumping to conclusions, making sacrifices, and defining what family means to you.

Niki and Holt's life was crazy before, but things are about to get even more out of control. Niki is completely unprepared to have the foundation of her world rocked in a big way and it seems as though she doesn't have time to absorb one new piece of information before the next surprise is dumped on her. Holt's prior knowledge of some of this information infuriates Niki, and she gives him no option to explain before running from him yet again. By the time she works things out in her head, Holt is a bit wary of her reactions and involving her in his world, so he starts to distance himself from her in order to protect her. In his mind, it is the best thing to do regardless what she may think.

This story has plenty of suspense, drama, steam and action to go around! It was wonderful to see Niki work her way out of her shell of fear to finally find her backbone that was missing in action up to this point. Throw in a few wild car chases and some gunfire and that backbone was definitely tested, but she came out the other side a stronger person for it. Holt experiences an emotional journey himself as he works through the chaos surrounding them. He opens up to Niki about his past and has to decide if he is really strong enough to walk away from her or if he can find a way to adjust his lifestyle to have everything he wants while still doing what he loves. He thrives on the thrill of the hunt but it exposes anyone he cares about to a whole lot of danger.

Oh, did I mention that Holt has a group of fellow badasses that he works closely with? Holy hot alpha males alert! His partner Jax plays a big part in the story as he protects Niki and her best friend Cass when Holt is not around, and I definitely want to know more about him in the future. Add in newcomers Finn, Cole and Ryder, and the hotness level is through the roof when they are all in the same room. Speaking of Cass, I am seriously hoping she gets her own story soon as well after the mess she creates for herself during this story!

Ms. Hayut did not experience any sort of sophomore slump at all- in fact I thought Gaining Ground was even better than Shifting Gears. The story was paced well, and although I did feel the need to huff in frustration at my Kindle a few times along the way for the actions of either Holt or Niki, it just meant I was experiencing the emotions the author was trying to convey. I really enjoyed the book overall and read it in just a few hours. Some wonderful new characters were introduced over the course of the story expanding the group and its extended family of sorts, and I am looking forward to seeing more of all of them in the future.

Get ready for some action ladies!!

Following up from the heightened events that took place in bk1, Gaining Ground picks up where Shifting Gears left off. I had so many questions as to how Holt and Niki’s relationship would be salvaged after that big cliffy revelation, but, Ms. Hayut answered all of my inquiries in an adept fashion.

Going forward, things aren’t easy squeezy at all. With secrets, lies, and unexpected twists and turn of events set into mention, Niki is aptly hesitant and apprehensive where all the chips with Holt lay.

It’s a bit of ups and downs in this read as now Niki has to make some hard decisions and gather up the strength she never knew she had. Not to mention, Holt has his own demons to answer to.

Get ready for some action ladies, Gaining Ground pulls full steam ahead as tensions and stakes are risen and hearts are put on the line!!

This is a MUST READ!!! I recommend reading Shifting Gears first as this story ties into it and you will be lost majorly if not, Trust me. It's wonderful, exciting, and earth moving great. The thrill of the story is not lost and it just keeps going and going with all the twist and turns that happen every few pages you can't help but fall in love with the story. Hell I know I did. Take a chance on Niki and Holt and what's to come. I know you wont regret it. Hell if anything you'll be like me dying for more, craving more.

Four Faces of Sex Slavery

What a beautiful and tragic story of four women just looking for more from life, something we all desire, except their lot in life lead them to Brussels via sex trafficking and false promises.
I have traveled abroad and seen many sex workers, but never really spoke to them. Just a smile here and there and a silent prayer as I went along my way, never having to deal with their realities. But On Black Sisters Street elegantly and matter-of-factually puts the truths of thousands of sex slaves, victims of sex trafficking, in front of the reader through the lives of 4 fictional women, without an ounce of remorse. And their shouldn't be. These women do not enjoy what they do, but after having been flown to other countries on illegal visas, that were later confiscated by their madame, with the false promise of being nannies, what other choice is there? They must go to work; and that work is whatever the man in front of them desires.
In spite of the lies, sexual abuse, wars, and even death, these women maintain a sense of hope that manages to keep their souls afloat when all hope should have been lost long ago.
This book is a must read. It not an easy read and it will make the reader uncomfortable, but it must be read nonetheless.

Refreshing look at oldest trade

This is the story of a group of young women from Africa who are lured into prostitution for various reasons. Each woman has a story to tell but each lives a closed and seperate life until a tragic event unites them. The women work in the red light district of Belgium and for those who have never been the descriptions are pretty accurate. What the novel helps one realize is that behind the make-up and scanty clothing there are actual women with lives and complex problems and feelings.
This is a well written book despite some difficult passages of dialect. The final plot twist is so subtle that it is nearly impossible to predict and heightened the impact of the ending. It was also refreshing to see a European setting through less than adoring African eyes;where the "gold"
standard was not blonde or stick thin. It will be interesting to see where this writer takes us next.

Sad, Beautiful Book

This book tells the individual stories of five young African women who, out of desperation, become prostitues in Belgium. Like indentured servants, they are at the mercy of their benefactor pimp and madame for years in order to pay their debt and win their freedom. The story centers around the murder of one of the women while interweaving the lives of the others and the hopelessness that led them to their current circumstances. With beautifully written dialog and the rich, harrowing details, I could not put the book down!

That is an excellent book.

That is an excellent book. If you are interested in knowing about Brazil and why there are so many protests going on, that is the book to buy. Unfortunately, it took a major event like the World Cup to inspire someone to write a book in English about a poor country that dreams one day to be rich. The so called país do futuro.

The author understood that the reality Brazil is facing has its roots in history and culture. But it is the people who are ultimately responsible for how things are in general, not prepared to sacrifice alegria for modernization, at least not yet.

Growing up during the "Brazilian Miracle" of the 70's, I thought the country would be a super power in next twenty years or so. That did not happen, even with the military having total political control, there was not enough reforms done in time to deal with the oil crisis. I saw the same euphoric reaction during the Lula presidency as a repeat of those years, and once again, the excitement gave way to disillusion.

Living in the US for so many years, I now understand and agree with what the author mentioned will take to achieve that better future waited for so long.

Shining a Bright Light on the Benevolent South American Gulliver

Michael Reid gives his readers a much-needed overview of the history, economy, society, and politics of Brazil since 1500. Too often, the country seems to live in the shadows of the other BRICS, i.e. Russia, India, China, and South Africa. To his credit, Mr. Reid examines with much objectivity the repeated disappointments that Brazil has had to endure both domestically and abroad. In summary, the book under review will hopefully give its readers a better appreciation for a country which is called to play an increasingly important role in the 21st century.

It is an excellent resource for anyone interested in Brazil

Although there have been many news stories about the recent economic development of Brazil, "Brazil: the Troubled Rise of a Global Power" is one of the few books that provides a historical context and an analysis of the current country.

Historical events discussed in Part I are carefully focused to help the reader understand their importance to modern Brazil. These include Brazil's unique transition from a colony to an independent nation, the traditional power of landowners such as coffee planters, the effects of Getulio Vargas' incorporation of many Fascist labor laws, and finally the transition from the military dictatorship to democracy.

Part II is the most interesting section for readers interested in current Brazil. Reid discusses the administrations of three post-military-dictatorship presidents: Cardoso, Lula, and Dilma. He points out how each has helped change Brazil into a nation with a expanding economy with a growing middle class. His discussions of the current middle class and of the developing agriculture and petroleum industries are especially interesting. And of course, his information about the development of the Amazon Rain Forest is of international interest.

Michael Reid spent several years as an Economist of London reporter in Brazil and published this book as the country prepared to host the World Cup Soccer tournament. He knows his subject. He is objective, but he writes from his British perspective supporting democratic development. It is an excellent resource for anyone interested in Brazil, its current development, and the changing world economic situation as BRICS nations take a larger role.
