It’s very important to understand that this is not an easy exam. You will need to set aside at least 20 hrs for study. The PDF study guide suggests that the material can be read through in about 6 hours, which is probably true, but unless you are a rare genius, you won’t retain much from this brief perusal.

Realistically, reading it twice is only the beginning!

This advice comes from my personal experience studying for and taking the exam. Not everyone will have the same experience, but I can tell you that many a physician has failed this exam, and if you are not careful, you will only be added to the long list of frustrated physicians who feel that the exam was created only for Radiologists taking their national boards!

This is the fact. Physician examinees are taking everything (except positioning material) that the 2 year Radiography students take on their boards after a full 2 years of study! And you are expected to take this exam with only a “few” hours of study??? Covering foreign material???

Okay, so you’re a physician, you’ve studied a whole lot longer and more intense than this in years past, but the truth is, this is board material. It is a board exam. And you haven’t studied material like this for many years, and realistically, most of this is information you have NEVER studied and know nothing about.

A physician friend of mine failed this twice, and never tried again. I failed it my first attempt and didn’t know what to change, because I thought I did everything right. I am triple boarded. Never failed a board. I never study for any of my recertification exams and always do well. But even so, I failed this exam and I was exasperated!

One of the problems I had was the false report listed on the internet. One “testimonial” on the Radiologic Health Branch web site, stated that the test was the easiest exam they’d ever taken and they read through the PDF study guide once and completed the exam in 17 minutes - Pure lies!

The fact is, this is pathologically misleading, and anyone who trusts this advice and follows it, will feel most betrayed, and complete the exam with many regrets, as well as being $250 poorer.

So what do you need to do?

Follow this advice and you should do well. At the very least, you will have an excellent strategy that will result in future success if you are diligent in your preparation.

This IS your study guide, designed for physicians preparing for THIS exam.
NOTE: The guide is rather brief and doesn’t do much for explaining the technical details you will be tested on. It is ONLY a guide and very few of you will be able to pass the exam, briefly studying it alone. If you’re a genius - go for it. If you’re something less - read on…

I suggest that you read the PDF twice to begin with. This will provide a good orientation to what you need to know.
NOTE: My big mistake with my first attempt, was that I didn’t realize that the numerous appendices are ALL testable material. So I blissfully ignored all of them. Wow, what a colossal blunder!

I bought 3 study books on Amazon, all intended for Rad Tech students. But only one of them will do you much good.

1. Mosby's Comprehensive Review of Radiography: The Complete Study Guide and Career Planner
This is a well written book with high reviews. But the style is brief and very abridged! It will work if you lack other options, but honestly, I didn’t do much with it, as it was simply too condensed. Your Study Guide PDF is already concise, you don’t need a repeat of what you already have.

2. Lange Q&A Radiography Examination, Ninth Edition
Wow, what a mistake! Thousands of questions, but trying to identify those that apply to you is a nightmare! This is written for Rad Techs studying for their boards. It’s conceivable that those questions that directly cover the material you need, would likely be useful. However, there is no way to precisely extract only those questions you need. Thus, you would waste many hours looking over hundreds of questions that don’t pertain to you. Unless you are taking the exam for the 3rd or 4th time, I would advise that you stay away from this book and concentrate on the book below.

3. Radiography PREP Program Review and Exam Preparation, Seventh Edition
Now this was a very good book, with high reviews as well. Detailed enough to explain the complicated material in your PDF, but concise enough to keep you from wasting too much of your time. This is what I used for 98% of my book study - outside of the PDF study guide.

My approach was to read everything in this book that pertained to what was covered in the PDF. I used the index to read everything I found in the PDF and it really helped a lot!

I then made about 300 questions covering everything in the PDF that appeared to be testable material - and I memorized every single question that I made.

When I re-took the exam, it was actually an enjoyable experience! There were about 5 questions that were never covered in the PDF. Unless I was lucky, I probably missed those.

About 50% of the remaining questions were straight from the book and my study questions. The remaining 50% were strongly related to the study questions and PDF material, but were twisted in such a way, that you needed to have a reasonable grasp of the matter. This is why the book was so useful. It provided enough additional information that a more comprehensive understanding was possible. Without the book, be prepared for a whole lot of exam trepidation and much frustration.

Study hard. Read the corresponding material found in

and if necessary make your own study questions.

Used this for 2014 Exam

Used this to prepare for my test 2014. Some said this is too outdated already since the exams has changed its approach.
HOWEVER I still gave this 5 stars for these reasons and tips:

1. It has all the basic stuff you need to know.. and if you got a good fundamental basic stuff, it will be easy to use common sense on questions that you dont know in the exam.

2. People say that questions here dont appear on the exam.. Every exam is different but I doubt that they will exactly copy questions from books or review programs.. Also, when you review, you dont go for memorizing questions, you should understand the question and understand all the choices and the correct answer...

3. I would suggest buying rad review easy as well for practice questions... more of them

All in all, if you trully are serious about reviewing and understanding and digesting everything in this book.. it will give you the basic fundamentals you need to pass your exam.. Remember there are no shortcuts and no pain no glory..

Everything you need!

I bought this book for my Kindle my last semester in x-ray school. It covers every topic that the ARRT says will be on the registry exam. I studied this and made an 86 on my exam, so I was sure glad I had this. I would keep my kindle with me wherever I went and would read a few pages at a time on areas I thought I was having trouble with.

About the Author
Philip J. Adler taught college courses in world history to undergraduates for almost thirty years prior to his recent retirement. Dr. Adler earned his Ph.D. at the University of Vienna following military service overseas in the 1950s. His dissertation was on the activity of the South Slav emigres during World War I, and his academic specialty was the modern history of Eastern Europe and the Austro-Hungarian empire. His research has been supported by Fulbright and the National Endowment for the Humanities grants. Adler has published widely in the historical journals of the U.S. and German-speaking Europe. He is currently professor emeritus at East Carolina University, where he spent most of his teaching career.

Randall L. Pouwels earned his B.A. in history at the University of Wisconsin and his Ph.D. in history at UCLA. His Ph.D. dissertation was on the history of Islam in East Africa. His book, HORN AND CRESCENT: CULTURAL CHANGE AND TRADITIONAL ISLAM ON THE EAST AFRICAN COAST, 800-1900 (Cambridge, 1987), has become a standard work in African history. THE HISTORY OF ISLAM IN AFRICA (Athens, Oxford, and Cape Town, 2000) was jointly edited with Nehemia Levtzion of Hebrew University, Jerusalem. Widely praised in reviews, it was selected by Choice as an Outstanding Academic Title for 2001 and was made a selection of the History Book Club. In addition, he has written numerous articles and reviews on East African history, the history of Islam in Africa, and historical methodologies. His other research interests include the history of the Middle East, the Indian Ocean, and the history and archaeology of Native Americans. Over the years, his work has been supported by grants and fellowships from Fulbright-Hays, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Social Studies Research Council, the National Geographic Society, and the American Philosophical Society. He has taught African history for over twenty years at LaTrobe University in Melbourne, Australia, and at UCLA. He has been the Professor of African and Middle Eastern History at the University of Central Arkansas since 1984.

Good book, good class, terrible teacher

Normally, I am really fascinated with World History, and this book did have some fascinating chapters. It really was the one thing keeping me awake and alive during my history class when I had a dinosaur for a teacher and I couldn't understand anything he said. I made it through the class because I basically read this book from start to finish. So this book helped guide me through it, even when the teacher was super boring.

Fast Deliverly. Good condition.

My textbook arrived within three days of purchasing it! Very happy about that! My only complaint was there were a few coffee stains on the first three pages, and the front cover's bottom left hand corner was bent which is really no big deal because all of the important pages are not damaged.

Essential for Understanding the Media Oligopoly

This academically intense book deals with the issue of media concentration and control by the corporate giants - a concern that of course has been dealt with in the more famous books "The Media Monopoly" by Bagdikian, "Manufacturing Consent" by Herman and Chomsky, and numerous others. But Bettig and Hall's book has the advantage of cutting edge coverage of the contemporary (for the time being) effects of the lack of diversity in the media, and a fast-paced and thought-provoking writing style. This is most evident in the authors' research into how modern media reports on itself, especially the internal reactions from media players to the mega-mergers of the late 90's. Up-to-date examinations of the movie and music industries are another plus, including the ongoing debate over piracy and how that populist craze has inevitably succumbed to humble copyright laws, regardless of the big-money corporate crackdown. Great insights in the second half of the book include how advertising is designed to preach the ideology of consumerism, with the media (and recently, the schools) being used by advertisers as compliant tools in a nearly religious quest for unyielding capitalism. The book wraps up with a bang as Bettig and Hall examine the media's hideously one-sided treatment of globalization protesters, which of course supports the position of the corporate media oligopoly. This short but jam-packed book is essential for the understanding of the dire cultural, political, and economic effects of the corporate concentration of the modern media. [~doomsdayer520~]

The one textbook I bought in college that I will forever keep

I had to buy this book for a class, but I will never sell this text. It will always remain on my bookshelf. This is an incredibly written book that opens the public's eyes to the effects corporations have on today's media. From news, advertisements, and even children's shows, this covers all ends of media. Great read. I've referenced it a ton of times in my research. A must have for communication related majors and employees.

War, Oil and Cataclysm

The Apophis Chronicles is a story that takes the plot of an asteroid on a collision course with Earth, gives it a spin, adds some creative and well done people and places, and delivers an easily readable book that is sure to please most readers. Mr. Collins will take you on a journey that goes through both the solar system and on our planet in a wild and fun ride. I very much enjoyed this read and gladly recommend it to others.

The story takes place in the not to distant future, in the year 2025 if I remember right. The United States and other non-Arab countries are under a major oil shortage thanks to the manueverings of a character named Al Hadi. This individual has managed to gain possession of most of the remaining oil supply and is using his control to suffocate the rest of the world. The only thing that has saved the United States is the advent of more oil free technology, such as cold fusion.

Eventually, the United States learns of an imminent collision with an asteroid appropriately names Apophis. This asteroid has the capability of wiping out much of life on the planet. Officials immediately begin to plan to avert the disaster, but then Al Hadi discovers what is going on and puts his own plans in motion that aren't in the best interests of others. Then the race is on.

I gave this book four stars because it is a good read with a fast paced story and characters that are well developed. The plot is constantly moving along and there is rarely a dull moment. If you are looking for an easy read with lots of action, then this is a book for you.

This was a very enjoyable read and a rollicking one by the end of the book. It is good entertainment and shows that the writer has a very good understanding of the middle east and its politics. Who knows when this science fiction story could become real? The earth has, indeed, been the target of many pieces of rock from deep in the universe. Geology shows us that such hits have altered life on this planet. Will we be able to solve a problem like the one proposed in the book? Or will we hide our heads in the sand, thinking that it couldn't happen to us?

A good source for discussion

Michael Howard's cogent attempt to construct a theoretical substructure for "market socialism" provides a good basis for discussion around issues of post-capitalism and what kind of "socialism" remains viable for the twenty-first century. The book is especially valuable for its treatment of the Soviet-type socialist model and the reasons for its failure and also its well-researched presentation of various existing experiments in self-management, worker-ownership etc, with both their successes and shortcomings.
Howard's presentation of market socialism as an attractive and realistic improvement on capitalism is relatively persuasive, however his attempts to defend his model against other self-managed alternatives, notably Michael Albert's "Parecon" are less convincing. Howard merely states his belief that market socialism is a more practical and reasonable alternative to capitalism than the "parecon" but fails to adequately address the arguments directed at market systems by thinkers such as Michael Albert and Robin Hahnel.
One great advantage of Howard's book is its readibility and clarity. It is certainly a valuable contribution to socialist theory and there is much to admire in it. In contrast however, my personal opinion remains that the best proposal for a self-managing economy currently under discussion remains the Parecon model. As a companion to this work, I heartily recommend Michael Albert's "Parecon" for readers interested in exploring the potential pitfalls and weaknesses of the ideas contained in Howard's book.

Amazon sent me an email asking if I'd like to submit a review for this product. But this presents a problem, since Amazon never shipped it. I would actually love read Michael Howard's book and provide a review. I'd much prefer this to getting my money back because I was really interested in reading this book. But I can't seem to get either the book or a refund out of Amazon. So this "review" is about Amazon, not Michael Howard's book. Sorry if this seems inappropriate. But Amazon clearly failed to do their job, they've ignored my formal complaint, I've received no compensation or feedback, and I won't be doing any more business with Amazon. Read these books individually, but is great that they can be gotten in a boxed set, so you don't have to wait to read the next books. A lonely librarian trapped in a blizzatd with a handsome married man. That night changes everything for the both of them. Enjoyed this series very much.

How will their love survive?

When I started reading this story, I didn't know anything about this author and didn't know that this was one of a four part series. When I finished it, I was pretty upset with the ending. That's when I found out about the rest of the story. I liked the two characters in the story and the story itself flowed pretty well, but I just didn't know if I would bother to read the rest.

Then I decided to give the rest of the story a try. I'm glad that I did. I really enjoyed the story and was rooting for the two main characters all the way!

In part two of the story, we see just how much Booker loves Claire. She has been hurt before and feels betrayed by Booker, but he will do anything to win her back. Even if it's giving up all of his money, he is willing to do it for Claire's love.

By part three, we begin to see that there is a lot more going on in this story. Will Booker and Claire survive what they are about do? Will their love survive? Can they save the island and its inhabitants? This story just keeps getting better and better!

I would have to say that the HEA for this book was well worth the wait. The hero and his heroine do prevail in the end! A steamy love story with a villain and a lot of suspense! You should give it a try.

Do You See What I See?

Did you ever wish you were Santa and could peek into people's lives around the holidays? That's exactly what happens with the latest collections of Skyler Foxe short stories. You magically go between couples in the SFC and look into their dreams and lives. This book is intended for those readers already familiar with Skyler, Keith, Jamie and the rest of the group. This is not a mystery (although I've heard a new one will be coming shortly). This gives you a look at the characters of this wonderful series when they aren't getting into trouble sleuthing. It's a great quick and enjoyable read to satisfy our love of the characters until the next mystery is published.

A Fan of Skyler's

I have followed the Skyler Fox stories for years, having once been a teacher and recognizing the classroom vibes. It is a delightful romantic tale, realistic enough in circumstances to be readable but avoiding the tragic ending mandated so long for gay lovers. Skyler's story is unabashedly feel good reading. I look forward to many more from Ms. Walsh.

About the Author
Dr. Michael and Kathleen Yeager have served as pastors/apostles, missionaries, evangelist, broadcasters and authors for almost four decades. Up to this time they have authored eleven books. Their three son, daughter and daughter in law work with them in the ministry. Michael and Kathleen were married in 1978. Having help start over 27 churches. They flow in the gifts of the Holy Spirit, teaching the word of God, with wonderful signs following and confirming God's word. In 1983 they began Jesus is Lord Ministries international. The same year the Lord spoke to Dr. Yeager to go on TV. From then to now they have been actively involved in broadcast media for the propagation of the gospel. They have owned numerous radio stations through the years. They have broadcasted by satellite (with their own C band up-link system) TV stations, including low power TV stations. In the mid-90s as pastor Mike was contemplating purchasing a local TV station, the Lord spoke to his heart and said the future was the Internet. At that time Jesus is Lord Ministries made a sizable investment into the broadcasting of the gospel by the Internet. For a season they were the largest broadcaster in new technology that carried well-known ministers, live streaming & archiving of their programs. In the mid-70s the Lord had spoken to Dr. Mike, revealing to him that he would be a part of providing a platform by which ministers could speak to the nations. Our broadcast now reaches around the world by all the latest and modern technology.

A Good and Relevant Book

This book was perfect for me, as I am on a path of faith. I really thought faith comes but one or two ways, but this book opened up my understanding with relevant and biblical revelations that totally changed my perspective. Some I was already doing, many others I was challenged to pay more close attention to. All in all, this is a good book not just theoretically to inform, but while reading it one can feel an explosion of faith within.

Very good and inspiring book on how to build your faith backed by scriptures from the Word of God.
The books has some minor formatting errors, but the actual, true content is excellt.

There is also a series of sermons on youtube by Michael Yeager that covers the same subject. I highly recommend watching that too.
