This is an important book
By Seth Klein
Raffi walks the talk when in comes to honoring children. Turns out this children's entertainer can be a very serious guy.

As a parent, I found this book both frightening and illuminating, but ultimately very hopeful and helpful. Raffi makes the case for better protecting children on the web, and then provides very concrete and reasonable policy reform ideas for better regulating social media platforms. His policy ideas are well researched, well supported and measured. He presents a very useful framework for protecting both privacy and child safety, and for requiring that social media sites make these protections the default.

Raffi also presents some very thoughtful research about how this new generation's deep engagement with social media may alter how we think and relate to one another and the environment. It is a very thoughtful read. And the policy ideas are worthy of government action.

Critical & timely solutions for all the world's children: A Fascinating and Riveting Read
By Trista Hendren
If every parent and educator read this book, we would live in a different world.

Raffi provides an broad view of the ecological dangers of tech today, the effects of social media on children and creating the world that many of us wish to live in.

I approached the last pages in quiet tears, thinking of the named children we have lost to social media: Amanda Todd, Rehtaeh Parsons and Audrie Pott.

This book also reminded me of the thousands of children we are unaware of, who are losing their lives to toxins produced for our convenience.

And yet, the book also provides a call to action. #lightwebdarkweb is filled with solutions - and hope.

My book is marked up with passages to share with others and will certainly be shared again and again. I will be recommending this book to everyone I know, including my children.

"If not for reverence, if not for wonder, if not for love, why have we come here?"

~Raffi, Tomorrow's Children

Lightweb Darkweb: Three Reasons To Reform Social Media Before It Re-Forms Us
I just finished the new book by Raffi (best known as the popular children's troubadour) and I am feeling motivated to let people know why I love it! (In fact, I used a yellow marker to highlight the "important parts" and there is a whole lotta yellow in my book now!) (Click [...] to see my longer version of why I think it is SO important).

Lightweb Darkweb is a 21st century manifesto and call to action that presents critical information about our Internet culture in a vibrant and clear manner. It is built around 3 compelling reasons - safety, intelligence and sustainability - to reform social media and issues a resounding call for a thorough "mid-course correction" before it is too late.

Thank goodness for Raffi and hallelujah for Lightweb Darkweb -- this new book is a beacon of light to lead us out of the current wilderness of the "Darkweb" and into a sustainable future. Citing Gandhi, Raffi points us to a future where everyone has enough for their needs (but not their greed). Sometime it takes a troubadour to show us which way the wind is blowing.
